A new approach to IVF

The Inception Research Institute and Gameto, a biotechnology company dedicated to advancing solutions for women’s health, are partnering in the Fertilo Study, a clinical study researching a new fertility option that may shorten the IVF process by maturing oocytes (eggs) in the lab instead of the body. 

The process of maturing eggs outside of the body, called in vitro maturation (IVM), has been around for more than 30 years. This study is evaluating an investigational IVM treatment, Fertilo, that uses engineered ovarian support cells to help mature eggs. Fertilo was designed to improve IVM outcome, shorten the process of IVF and reduce the risk of complications and side effects related to IVF.

Key Participant Requirements

We are seeking women who are planning IVF at one of our participating fertility clinics. 

Study participants must meet the following criteria:

  • Women aged 18-35

  • BMI between 21-40

  • Have AMH greater than 3

  • Have both ovaries and normal uterine cavity

  • Planning embryo transfer within 2 months after egg retrieval

Additional eligibility criteria apply.

Patients who wish to participate in the study will be asked to sign informed consent and undergo a formal screening assessment by the Research team at the clinic.

During the study, participants will complete the following:

Randomization

Prior to egg retrieval you will be randomly assigned (like the flip of a coin) to one of two groups:
1. Fertilo + MediCult
2. MediCult alone

In-vitro Maturation

After retrieval your immature eggs will complete maturation with either Fertilo + MediCult or MediCult alone, depending on your randomization assignment. After IVM, all mature eggs will be fertilized and resulting embryos will be frozen.

Embryo Transfer

The best-quality embryo will be transferred after endometrial preparation with estradiol and progesterone.

As part of the study, participants will receive

study-related procedures at no cost, including exams, labs, ultrasounds, egg retrieval, in vitro maturation, in vitro fertilization, and frozen embryo transfer
